Owning a car gives your a certain amount of respect in the Township.

Owning a car gives your a certain amount of respect in the Township. You become a man of dignity. People don't even care whether you afford fuel and the service or not.
Let's be honest buying a car puts you in another level.

That's why when someone makes his first R100k or gets his first job he wants a car.
He wants to be on that particular level. He wants respect from the society because no one take you seriously when your still using taxis.

Then again in reality owning a car doesn't mean your successful. Once you own a car you have many friends. You visit too many people and you spend too much on fuel cost's.

For some people a car is a necessity. I understand. But for some it's not much of a necessity it's just pressure from the society.

That's one reason a lot of young people who bought cars or fancy cars by age 23 are broke today.
They maintain the image but not a bank balance.

Never allow society to put any amount of pressure on you. What society thinks will never put food on the table for you.

Stay in your own lane. "Don't fake it till you make it"

Faking it might put you in serious debt especially in these days of instagram.
